Travel, photography, magazine publishing and volunteering get my motor running. Born and raised in Sydney, I was planning my inaugural overseas adventure before I had received my first passport at the age of six. I never did make it to Disneyland, but I’ve been to plenty of other destinations since then.

In my wild and misspent youth I completed a combined Bachelor of Arts/Law at the Australian National University, spending my summers as an intern at Murdoch Magazines. Working there on flagship title New Woman magazine was such great fun I would have done it for free. Okay, let’s be honest, I did do it for free for a while before the Features Writer role became available. When I wasn’t interviewing celebrities and cajoling the readers to end poverty in Africa right after they bought a fab new shade
of lipgloss, I was covering the travel beat. Hello Sweden, Hong Kong, Noumea, Shanghai, Denmark and…Mount Isa (that’s another story).

A dedicated publishing professional, I have written
features and travel articles for many leading Australian

and international magazines. An accomplished editor,
I worked as the Editor of Virgin Blue Voyeur magazine from February 2003 – October 2006 during a period of phenomenal growth and expansion of the airline. Utilising Sir Richard Branson’s ethos of “screw it, let’s do it”, we championed Aussie entrepreneurial success stories in the magazine and showcased the most inspired thinking of ‘fast companies’. The travel pages were filled with exotic and tantalising articles on destinations in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

Since 2001 my other passion has been volunteering. I’ve worked in Vietnam and Thailand, learning as I go about the special needs of orphaned babies and toddlers.

Currently I am working as a freelance travel writer and photographer for a number of quality magazines and newspapers around the world. I’m a regular visitor to Ban Kingkaew orphanage in Chiang Mai, Thailand. When not travelling I’m based in a beautiful beachside suburb of Sydney, Australia.
